This article is devoted to the analysis of the Internet of things, one of the key transformation forces of contemporary economy indicating the beginning of the forth industrial revolution. Our research is aimed at estimating potential influence of advanced digital technologies on future development of the economy. In order to reach this goal we discovered and estimated the economic effect caused by introducing the Internet of things in its two forms: B2C (consumer) and В2В (corporate, industrial) Internet - as well as determined the difficulties in developing the Internet of things since this technology brings a number of hazards to economic development such as confidentiality problems, cyber-security, absence of common standards, mass layoff of low-qualified personnel. The set of research methods used in the article includes content-analysis of scientific sources, statistics analysis of data concerned with scientific and technical development of domestic enterprises.
