Electronic extortion is one of the forms of the phenomenon of information crime that worries the safe people, transforming their lives from a stable and quiet life to a life full of fear and turmoil from harm that threatens them, and they wait for it to happen. It is an immoral crime, from which various societies and different personalities are abuzzing, especially with the amazing technological development, which has affected the nature of the crime and the means used in it. Although criminalizing electronic extortion may sometimes appear to conflict with freedom of expression, or constitute a legitimate economic transaction, it requires appropriate criminalization. Extortion occurs when the extortion offender obtains information about the victim. Either by stealing that information, or obtaining it after gaining the trust of the victim, and then threatening him to publish that information, whether it is personal photos, audio recordings, or what is related to the victim's private life, or his family, through modern technology in order to reach his goal, considering that the threat in the crime of extortion often involves prejudice to the person of the victim who is blackmailed, through social networking sites, including: Facebook, Paltalk, and other modern social media.
