Treaties as a source of international investment law.

Foreign investments play a very beneficial role for both foreign investors and host countries, making them one of the most important topics of our modern era. In order to be able to cover these international investments with the desired protection of international investment law, it is imperative that we search for its sources, so that we can understand the nature and role of international investment law in the settlement of investment disputes. Despite numerous studies on the sources of international investment law, most of them were for specific sources, such as bilateral investment treaties and guidelines. There is still no systematic study of these sources. The purpose of researching the sources of international investment law is to find out how the general theory of sources of international law is applied, and how they are used by both states and international investment tribunals charged with settling disputes between states and foreign investors.
