International monitoring of the right to work

Abstract

The right to work is considered the essence of human dignity, since respect and protection of workers' rights is the solid building of human rights that should be upheld, defended and not violated under any circumstances, the obligation to the right to work is not limited to the obligation to provide employment opportunities for individuals only, but extends to all the associated components of the right to just and satisfactory conditions of work. The most important of which is the right to occupational safety and health in order to provide a decent work environment, and also includes the right to social security to include insurance for work injuries and occupational diseases, disability and old age insurance, maternity protection and unemployment insurance, so the right to work has a dual nature, that is, twofold, it is an economic and social right at the same time, and it is an integral right for other rights at times basically and at other times complementary to it.
