The role of civil society in promoting public participation in the decision-making process

Abstract

Citizen participation in the decision-making process is an important component of an active democracy, and in fact, when citizens participate in the development of their society, they not only benefit from it, but also own this process, and are also able to make recommendations on best practices for the future in order to support the core issues of society. Civil society is an important part of the democratic process as it gives citizens alternative means to convey different perspectives and ensure that different interests are taken into account in the decision-making process. Through research, we talk about the role of civil society in enhancing the public participation of citizens in the decision-making process, by talking about the meaning of public participation and civil society as a major actor in public participation, as well as the presentation of the mechanisms used by civil society in this regard and the presentation of the obstacles to the work of civil society and ways to strengthen its efforts in the process of participation in decision-making.
