With the development of punitive legislation and the trend towards humane punishments instead of corporal punishments that used to afflict the person who is sentenced, the implementation of these punishments may lead to his death or even injury, whether material or moral injury that makes him unable to play his role in society and remains burdened with the consequences of implementing the punishment until the end of his life. This is with the emergence of social defense movements that emphasized the necessity of humane punishment and not seeking punishments whose aim is mere revenge on the offender.
