Intelligent robots are described as not just traditional machines that perform repetitive industrial tasks automatically, but on top of that they are smart machines that rely on themselves and perform tasks and actions by individual decisions away from the human being, which requires recognition of special legal situations that are completely different from the traditional legal situation. Therefore, the European Parliament decided to grant it a legal status commensurate with its practical nature.
