Abstract

Tourism is one of the most important modern economic activities to the extent that it is the pillar of the economies of a good number of countries, and the importance of tourism as an economic activity stems from the reality of the impact of that activity on the economy as a whole, whether it is a hard currency generating activity or a number of other economic activities complementary to it such as (construction industries, furniture, food industries, transportation, etc.). Tourism is also a labor-intensive economic activity that generates a high and fast return at the same time.  Despite the great importance of the tourism sector and its direct and indirect revenues, it is considered unstable at all and cannot be relied on in the long term, as the tourism industry has high risks, unlike other industries, as it is not characterized by flexibility or the ability to adapt to political, economic or social conditions that may arise, as it is highly vulnerable to all forms of external factors (political tension and terrorist operations). Terrorism is one of the main causes that affect tourism activity and lead to its stagnation, regardless of how much this country enjoys tourist facilities, infrastructure and natural and cultural assets.
