Climate change and the food crisis at the local and international levels

Abstract

The issue of climate change receives great attention at the local and international levels, as Egypt is one of the countries most exposed to risks resulting from climate changes, especially in the field of agriculture, which is one of the most affected sectors, which affects the productivity of agricultural lands, especially some important crops such as wheat and rice. Egypt has signed the Paris Climate Agreement among 194 countries that have signed this agreement, the most important of which is the achievement of food security and the eradication of hunger. Scientific studies confirm that the rise and fall in temperature, the decrease in water availability and the expected rainfall as a result of climate changes will reduce the net production of agricultural crops and will cause an increase in pests and plant diseases, as the Food and Agriculture Organization has revealed that climate changes threaten our ability to achieve security food, poverty eradication and sustainable development. The problem of climate change is one of the most important issues that concern the international community, especially because of its grave repercussions on human life and violates many of his basic rights, such as the right to health, the right to nutrition, and the right to a healthy environment. The problem of climate change represents a major challenge facing humanity in all parts of the world. The world, as the planet Earth is not only subject to natural climate fluctuations but also to the effects of economic and human activities
