Being considered as one of the extremely serious threats to humanity in modern times, as environmental crimes affect not only human beings but all living organisms as well. Meanwhile, the said threats arise from the acts of man and such acts are classified by international and national law as prohibited acts. Therefore, the international and national legislators intervened to protect human environment related interests by enacting laws and legislation in protection of the environment through the provision of mechanisms, listing the interests worthy of protection and combating acts that pose a threat to both human existence and living beings as well. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has confirmed that the volume of crimes committed annually against the environment is estimated at US$ 280 billion, which confirms the strong link between climate change and crimes committed in this area([1]).
