Purposes of punishment for the most serious international crimes

Abstract

First: Definition of the subject of the research: The issue of the objectives behind the imposition of punishment is among the topics on which there has been wide debate among criminal law scholars, especially in international criminal law, because the heinousness of the international crimes committed requires that the end of the punishment be in a way that limits the commission of the most serious international crimes of concern to the entire international community. Second: The importance of the research: The importance of this research lies in the statement of the desired purpose of imposing punishment on the perpetrators of serious international crimes, and the importance is reflected in clarifying the impact of achieving the purposes under study on reducing the commission of the most serious international crimes, and to indicate whether those purposes were on the same degree in terms of importance, or there is a discrepancy between them?
