Goverance and its role in achieving sustainable development

Abstract

The study is concerned with the governance of administration and its impact on combating corruption. It deals with the concept of governance, is objectives and the principles on which it is based. It also deals with the nature of corruption, its different forms, its causes and mechanisms to combat it and how governance contributes to combating corruption and limiting its effects. The study then exposed the role of governance in achieving sustainable development. The study also touched on what sustainable development is, the most important principles on which it is based, and how governance contributes to achieving that development by following certain steps to reach the desired sustainable development. The research concluded with a set of important recommendations, including that the principle of transparency must be activated to work to combat corruption and achieve sustainable development, as well as the need for the government to impose measures to combat hotbeds of money laundering, and for banks to take measures to ensure the detection of looted funds from corruption operations and their return to their original sources through legal procedures. The state regulates it through special laws for that, and work to quickly activate the decision of the Central Agency for Organization and Administration No. 54 of 2020 AD regarding the creation of the internal audit and governance departments and the issuance of a publication explaining the practical procedures for implementing the decision and the penalty for non-compliance with it.
