Abstract

Digital evidence is of great importance at the present time, as the digital forensic evidence is not limited to proving digital crimes only, such as intellectual property theft, child pornography, and sexual harassment, but also extends to traditional crimes such as drug trafficking, murder and kidnapping, in which digital technology is used as a tool to facilitate the implementation of crimes quickly and efficiently that may exceed the capabilities of investigators on the one hand,  He may also resort to this technique for the purpose of covering up the eyes of security on the other hand, as criminals believe that this environment is completely separate from the physical world, which makes them feel safe, but this belief is misplaced, because there are many crimes committed in the physical world that are not clear without the Internet, many drug deals have been discovered taking place on the Internet, Through electronic surveillance, we can therefore learn more about the criminal activities that exist around us in the physical world, especially since the Internet is often relevant and includes digital evidence than should be seen as an extension of the physical crime scene; therefore, this research will address the penal protection of digital evidence due to the importance it has in the field of criminal evidence.
