Abstract

After the industrial revolution and the accompanying population explosion, excessive use of fuels and development in all fields, problems of a new kind emerged that affect the environment. As a result, in order not to exacerbate environmental problems and because of the importance and impact of the environment and its elements on human life and the normal exercise of human activity, States have persisted in developing plans, legislation and institutions to protect and preserve the elements of the environment. The environment enjoyed legal protection in Jordanian legislation not long ago through scattered texts in many laws until the first law on environmental protection was issued in 1995, which was repealed by Law No. 52 of 2006. Through the above, the researcher in this study is exposed to the penal protection of the environment, by presenting all crimes against the environment contained in the Environmental Protection Law No. 52 of 2006 and explaining their elements in detail and the penalties prescribed for them, in addition to presenting the crimes related to the environment contained in the special penal laws.
