The crimes of rumors and the obstacles to pursuing them through modern communication means.

There is no doubt that the crimes of rumors are not a new issue, as this crime is one of those that is linked to the existence of human groups. Whenever a group of people exists, rumors spread among them alongside the facts, and there is nothing strange about that, especially if we consider that rumors are connected to the exaggeration inherent in humans. Humans, by nature of imagination, tend to embellish and amplify some events and facts beyond their reality. Hence, rumors accompany society at all times and places. With the development of electronic communication means, which have made the world closer to being described as a single village, the danger of rumors crimes has increased. How easy it is to spread and direct it to the largest sector of individuals, without being limited by spatial boundaries. Moreover, with the significant technological advancement in communication techniques, it has become difficult to control them. The danger of these crimes lies in the fact that they may broadcast false news that negatively affects national security and social peace. Therefore, it is unacceptable for the national legislator in Egypt and Jordan, as well as Western legislations, particularly France, to remain without developing mechanisms to confront these crimes when committed through modern communication means and social media forums.
