The criminal liability for cyber extortion in UAE legislation.

Abstract

Recently, behavioral deviations have increased, and the Muslim community, particularly the Arab community, is under the threat of family fragmentation, scattering, and disintegration, where sinful inclinations and forbidden desires have controlled the souls of many who have no values or dignity. They rushed to spread corruption on earth, and their crimes have become widespread to the point that it can be considered a societal phenomenon, with various manifestations that have led lawmakers to define specific penalties for it. Among these abhorrent acts that the legislator classified as crimes subject to legal punishment is extortion, whether directly or through electronic means, the latter of which has increased its danger, especially as it has entered every home in both Arab and non-Arab countries.
