Small businesses are considered a driving force for the development of any economy, as they can help in the transition from a backward economy to an advanced industrial economy, by forming the base from which major economic institutions emerge. They can play a tremendous developmental role in the national economy of any country in the world and can significantly contribute to providing job opportunities for the growing workforce, helping to mitigate unemployment. Small and medium-sized enterprises contribute to the developmental process by adopting labor-intensive production methods and distributing income fairly. They also help in the fight against poverty by providing job opportunities for both genders, and they assist in utilizing local production resources at all levels of the economy while helping to reduce economic disparities between urban and rural areas. Small businesses rely on local workers, highlighting the significant economic benefit of small enterprises on the national economy, as employing local labor represents an important goal of development, especially in Kuwait and Egypt.
