The legal nature of liability for violations of electronic personal data and compensation for them.

Abstract

The availability of personal data on the internet helps legislators make sound decisions and achieve development in the appropriate areas, based on the actual available data. Therefore, it was originally intended that personal data be obtained only for specific legitimate and official purposes for official entities in the state, according to what is stated in Article 3 of the Egyptian Personal Data Protection Law. Thus, cyber extortion has become - that is, obtaining a personal photo, confidential information, or video materials related to the victim and exploiting them for financial purposes, or engaging in unlawful activities.This is manifested in several forms, including: threatening some girls by publishing their photos online or on social media, or informing their families, which harms them if they do not respond to the extortionist's financial demands – this is a common occurrence involving individuals who use pressure and intimidation tactics against the holders of personal data online, exploiting it to publish it publicly, forcing the person to comply with the perpetrator's requests to avoid public exposure of their privacy and the revelation of their secrets.
