The technological advancement witnessed by Egypt in recent years, as well as in other countries around the world, in all aspects of life, has led to an increase in crime rates. This is a result of criminals exploiting this development to commit their crimes, which necessitates working to support ways of cooperation between the individual and the state in order to combat crime in all its forms and achieve security and criminal justice in society. One of the most important forms of this cooperation is for individuals to report crimes that are committed and their perpetrators, as well as crimes that are likely to be committed, to the relevant authorities in the state. Reporting crimes is considered one of the most important means of combating crime. This is because there are many crimes that have not come to the attention of the relevant authorities to eliminate their traces, and even if they become aware of their occurrence, they have not reached the perpetrators nor identified them yet. Here comes the role of reporting, which informs the relevant authority of the occurrence of the crime or its perpetrator, aiding in achieving security and retribution from the offender. Additionally, reporting is not limited to combating crime only; it also works to prevent its occurrence when an individual learns that a crime is about to be committed in the future, of which the relevant authorities are unaware, and they report it to prevent its occurrence.
