In our current era, the press is considered an essential element in society, due to its prominent role in disseminating news in all political, social and economic fields. However, freedom of the press is not absolute, but is restricted by law that may not be transgressed. The nature of this profession also requires accuracy and investigation of facts before publishing, because the law requires the press to adhere to regulated legal rules. A journalist may not infringe on the freedoms of society and its individuals, otherwise he will bear civil liability in the event that he breaches his legal obligations, infringes on the freedoms of individuals, and infringes on their private lives. One of the most important findings of the researcher is that the law imposes on journalists the obligation to respond and correct as a means of compensating for damage. The researcher also recommends the need to clarify the difference between the right of reply and correction by the legislator. Therefore, I chose the topic of my research to be about the civil liability of journalists, given the importance of this issue in our present time. In this study, I addressed the civil liability of journalists, where I reviewed in the first section the nature of civil liability for journalists and media professionals, and in the second section, the reasons for the absence of civil liability for journalists and media professionals. I concluded the research with the conclusion, results, and recommendations derived from this study.
